Spring 2016

Dear Friends,

Watching the jubilation on the faces of the members of the Class of 2016 as they accepted their diploma at Saint Joseph’s University’s 165th commencement on May 14, I was struck by excitement for what the future holds for our newest alumni.

Claiming nearly 40 members of the national liberal arts and sciences honor society Phi Beta Kappa and almost 100 members of the national business honor society Beta Gamma Sigma, the Class of 2016 is poised for great things. Because of the rigorous, Jesuit education they received at Saint Joseph’s University, I have every confidence they will find success – whatever route they take.

Some will begin long, prosperous careers in education, banking, health sciences or insurance, while others will pursue advanced degrees in law, medicine or business at well-respected institutions of higher education. Still others will dedicate the next year of their life in pursuit of social justice as service volunteers.

Everything our first-rate faculty, dedicated staff, engaged parents and loyal alumni do on Hawk Hill creates an atmosphere of academic excellence. Our entire community supports the critical endeavor of producing intelligent, hardworking graduates who are prepared for their next steps.

As University benefactors, you and your philanthropy occupy a special place in creating this atmosphere of success. This edition of the President’s Report illustrates the contributions the Hawk Athletic Fund makes to student-athletes in the classroom and during competition; the professional connections created between alumni and students through the online advising platform SJU Connects; the impact the Board of Governors of the Academy of Risk Management and Insurance has in molding one of the nation’s top risk management and insurance programs; and the life-path discernment the Alliance for Catholic Education at Saint Joseph’s University affords its graduate students teaching in local, under-resourced Catholic schools.

Thanks to your support, Saint Joseph’s can provide our students with these types of dynamic academic and co-curricular experiences. I’m grateful for every member of the Saint Joseph’s community whose passion is focused on providing these experiences for students.

Thank you for all you do for Saint Joseph’s University.
